Clara is a small, white, fluffy little dog with an important job in the
magic show. She appears from an empty box, trots across the ring to her
assistant who picks her up, carries her back around the ring and places
her into a crystal casket. Then the casket is covered, spun around once,
the cover whisked away, and, voila! Clara has turned into a pretty showgirl.
Though her part in the show is brief, without Clara two tricks would not
happen (and the girls would be just  standing
around looking pretty for 3 minutes).
Clara has been a performer for only a short while
(recently taking over from the retiring Boo Boo) and although she doesn't
do all those fancy tricks like other performing dogs she is still a pro.
Like all performers, she has her off days when he'd rather be lazing at
the beach, or out chasing a cat or two, but she never misses her cue, never
late  for a
show, and has never let us down. Her favorite occupation, when not performing,
is sleeping, though eating comes a close second. Between shows, on multi
show days, she acts as guard dog for the ladies dressing room, keeping
stray cats and birds away, and also acts as go between when disputes arise
with the pigeons and Preston, the macaw (also sojourning in the ladies
dressing room between shows). Her favorite color is white; her favorite
food is food; her favorite pastime (apart form eating and sleeping) is
having her tummy scratched by whatever hand is available (she's very democratic
that way). As you can tell, we think Clara is the bestest little show doggie
in show biz.
For those of you who have
seen this page before you may be wondering what happened to Boo Boo, the
original Magic Dog. Boo Boo has now retired from show biz and is enjoying
a well earned rest. He loves to regale Clara (his successor) will tales
of his days "under the big top", handing out advise on all the important
issues surrounding the performance (like "never stop and scratch yourself
with the lights on you!") We all miss him. Incidentally, until new pix
are made, these are all of Boo Boo.
